Anita Berber, an extraordinary wo man, lived in Berlin in the 1920‘s, where she danced Vice, Honor and Ecstacy – nude. The dancer was bisexual and scandalous, a woman without morals in an immoral society. She indulged her passion for cocaine until her death from tuberculosis, aged 29. In Berlin 1987 an old lady strips on the Kudamm, claiming to be Anita. She‘s locked up. Her visions of Anita’s short, passionate life – or are they her own memories? — explode in vivid colours in the monochrome reality of a psychiatric establishment. . .
The doctor treating her becomes Sebastian Droste, her dance partner. The nurse tums into young Anita. Suddenly the old lady dies, An autopsy is called for – but she gets up off the table and anishes. Grotesque images, extreme lighting, unforgettable faces and scenes which forcefully collide, merge into each other, until the spectator no longer knows whether Anita is really dead.
