Daniel, a young man who had a few superficial experiences with men, meets Clemens in the city. Clemens is a bit older and has already experienced everything the city has to offer. Both long for a deep, lasting realtionship. They live together for some time, but soon their life together proves to be a sentimental parody of a marriage. Daniel buys fashionable clothes, visits cafes and beaches. He loses his inhibitions and enjoys constantly changing partners. He becomes more and more dependent upon quick gratification. His homosexuality threatens to get out of control. Then he meets a group of young men who try to live a life in which homosexuality is not repressed nor damaging but positive and accepted. Rosa von Praunheim caused a furor with this film in 1970. The discussions after the screenings led to the foundation of the German gay liberation movement.
